IRINA KORINA GROVE

Executed with the support of Cosmoscow Foundation, this work is part of the Yesterday's Snow installation commissioned by the Steirischer Herbst festival (curated by Ekaterina Degot). What we see before us, is a non-stop circle dance of winter trees deprived of their green outfit. The birch grove in this work is a symbol of the motherland. Tall and powerful-looking trees, in reality, turn out to be unstable, vulnerable, and fragile. The objects imitating the 'flash and bones' of life are made of thin air. The landscape is completely designed on a computer and manufactured at the factory. The existence of this forest requires electricity and a fan that constantly pumps air. This is a dance of frozen trees that have fallen asleep for the winter and are being constantly tormented by the artificial electric wind.
