XL Gallery opened in 1993. Founders: Elena Selina (curator) and Sergey Khripun (director). Since opening, the gallery has held more than 300 exhibitions. XL Gallery works primarily with Russian artists, from the classic figures of Moscow contemporary art (Andrey Monastyrsky, Viktor Pivovarov, Igor Makarevich, Boris Orlov, Konstantin Zvezdochetov) to young stars (Irina Korina, Blue Soup group, Alexey Buldakov, ZIP group, Roman Sakin, Ekaterina Muromtseva, and others). The gallery focuses mainly on installation, video, sculpture, and multimedia projects, showing painting and graphic works as well.
