сцена/szena

The сцена/szena project was established by curator Anastasia Shavlokhova in 2018 as a chamber art space in the centre of Moscow, in the famous Richter Mansion on Pyatnitskaya Street. In 2023, scene/szena opened its first pop-up project in Berlin.

The project focuses on supporting artists working with the subject of art as a personal message in the most comprehensive sense, employing different optics and methods: personal mythologies, storytelling, critical studies of the medium, and the figurative system. The project contributes to the creation of an environment where authors are shaping a new artistic language of our times. Thus, сцена/szena becomes a mediator between the artist and the viewer, art and the context of its creation on a local and international level: the aim of the project is to build a community of like-minded people based on a genuine interest in the different discourses and narratives in contemporary art.
