“Impermanence as the primary state”: Cosmoscow presents visual identity for the 13th edition

The visual style of the 13th edition of Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair is based on the gesture of temporary fixation, on the rehearsal, installation nature of the exhibition space, and refers to the works of Cosmoscow 2025 Artist of the Year, the PROVMYZA art group. The identity was created by omsky studio.

“Each year the fair presents a new visual identity based on the works of the winner of the Artist of the Year program, implemented by the non-profit Cosmoscow Foundation. By doing so, we try to further highlight the artists’ work and create the mood of the current edition of the fair. Cosmoscow is a large-scale event that requires long preparation. The process never stops, it is changeable and requires flexibility. This is the key to success, which is so skillfully emphasized by the identity of the current edition,” says Nikolay Korkov, CEO of Cosmoscow.

In their art, PROVMYZA uses performance as something that is about to disappear. The visual identity is also unfinished and visualizes the state of the fair as a process, which is its precision. It seems to say: “We know that all this is temporary. We are simply emphasizing what is left before it disappears. We do not show the finished product. We show how we collect art.”

The common thread of the identity is the wind, which appears in many of PROVMYZA’s works. The artists work in a territory where instability and confusion reign. Nature itself, which is essentially a painting, creates art. The artist gets a lot of a marker: to draw a frame, brackets or quotation marks.

«We absolutely love working with our hands, creating an identity that feels handmade, warm, and has a live presence. For us, the process is always not only about design, but also about the feeling that people leave behind. We are very grateful to Cosmoscow for the opportunity to implement exactly this approach and together come to a result that we are truly proud of,” says omsky studio.

The new identity will define the image of Cosmoscow’s online presence and the appearance of the fair itself: in the details of the architectural design, merchandise, and advertising on the streets of the city.
