Cosmoscow has launched a new digital project featuring artists’ monologues, continuing its mission to promote contemporary art. The first artist to take part is Igor Samolet.

In the new series, “What Am I Talking About?”, artists invite viewers into their studios and answer questions about their artistic practice.

The first featured artist is Igor Samolet, named Cosmoscow Artist of the Year 2026. He shares his vision of happiness within the historical circumstances we are given and explores how artistic thinking can change the way we perceive the world around us.

Born in Northern Russia, Igor Samolet lives and works in Moscow. His practice spans performative photography, digital artefacts, bas-reliefs, and the aesthetics of Soviet modernism. His work is united by a recurring theme of time — not only as a subject of research, but also as an artistic material.

The new format will take the form of a series of photo and video stories published across Cosmoscow’s social media channels. The series invites viewers to engage with content in a more thoughtful and conscious way, offering an opportunity to immerse themselves in the ideas and artistic visions of the authors shaping today’s contemporary art scene.
