The Persian Section brings together more than 10 authors, from classics of modernism to avant-garde female artists and contemporary masters. A special place in the exhibition is occupied by four figures whose work has become a reflection of the dialogue of man with civilization and the universe:
Monir Shahroudi Farmanfarmaian is one of the most influential Iranian artists of the 20th century. Her works are kept in the collections of MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum, and the British Museum and have also been exhibited at major international exhibitions of contemporary art.
Sohrab Sepehri is an artist and poet who created a philosophy of silent contemplation. His works are highly valued at Christie’s and Sotheby’s auctions.
Behjat Sadr is a pioneer of female abstract art in Iran, a participant in the Venice Biennale, whose expressive canvases are almost inaccessible today outside of museum collections.
Alireza Asanloo is a contemporary artist who explores the archetypes of the body and the psychological density of the image. His figurative works are visual chronicles of the era.
