“The Art of Russian Design”

The Russian avant-garde artists of the early 20thcentury proactively experimented with the object environment. They created a new visual language of the society relying on the political relevance of avant-garde art while trying to introduce its ideas into everyday life. Today, Russian artists experiment with object environment creating unique interior pieces that reflect current trends and an individual approach.  With that in mind, the Design section features “The Art of Russian Design” curatorial project dedicated to art design in contemporary Russian art. Such well-known Russian artists as Gosha Ostretsov, Recycle group, Olga Soldatova, Egor Ostrov, Ivan Gorshkov, Masha Shubina, Alexey Krendel and Harry Nuriev present their works including functional objects, porcelain, lamps, furniture and interior pieces. All works are made in a single copy or limited edition. Working with design the artists seek to reflect topical social issues, convey their ideas and create functional objects with a creative and conceptual touch, turning them into art.
