Syntax Gallery was founded by the art dealer, curator and founder of Artika Project Elvira Tarnogradskaya in 2019.
Syntax Gallery provides a platform to facilitate the interaction between different generations of artists and creative strategies and supports Russian contemporary art on the global market.
One of the principal domains of the gallery's curatorial research is the study of text in visual culture as an integral element of artistic mediums that manifests itself in the works of artists from different generations represented by the gallery. The introduction of text into visual culture started at the beginning of the 20th century and is still pertinent today.
The study of the relationship between different mediums and their evolution throughout the oeuvres of established artists is another major direction of Syntax’s curatorial research.
Syntax Gallery fosters interaction between artists and their creative strategies. The artists represented by Syntax are transforming the visual narrative with the help of sign systems and new media. The gallery explores the interaction between opposing artistic practices and the clash between traditional media and digital technologies.
Artists presented at Cosmoscow 2021: Olya Kroytor, Gosha Ostretsov.
