Founded by curator Elena Selina and director Sergey Khripun, XL Gallery opened its doors in 1993. Since then, the gallery has held more than 250 exhibitions. XL Gallery works primarily with Russian artists, from classic representatives of the Moscow contemporary art world (Viktor Pivovarov, Andrey Monastyrsky, Igor Makarevich, Boris Orlov) to young stars (Irina Korina, ‘Siniy Soup’ (Blue Soup) group, Alexander Povzner, Ilya Dolgov, ZIP group) and many more. The gallery focuses on installation, video, sculpture and multimedia projects.
