Aidan Salakhova was born in Moscow in 1964. She graduated from the Surikov State Academic Art Institute. Member of the Academy of Arts of the Russian Federation. Her paintings and drawings are distinguished by their black and gold palette, attention to ornament and silhouette, and precision of lines. Aidan Salakhova was one of the first artists in the post-Soviet space who started working with the topics of gender roles and the status of women. Participant of the Venice Biennale (1990, 2011) and numerous other projects in Russia and abroad, including a solo exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London, the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, and the Quadro Fine Art Gallery in Dubai.
