un[pack]ing

un[pack]ing is a non-commercial project by Mila and Denis Pak that "unpacked" their collection last season. This year, the unpacking will happen to the Sobo Gallery and to MARSHACK's (Dima Korolev) total installation "Bella and the Chumps".

Bella is an unattainable image of beauty spread across 12 canvases, enclosed in a labyrinth built by the lyrical hero from his own obsessions and anxious visions. It is composed of doors from a Soviet wall unit and scratched fences — this is the path of a mind that has lost the boundaries between itself and the search for beauty, love, and meaning. At the Preview, a performance by actor and musician Petr Skvortsov will heighten the sensation of defocus and the slipping away of images.
