
Restoration projects involving architectural heritage sites and their adaptation to contemporary life increasingly turn to the search for or creation of a “local identity” that enhances recognition and increases symbolic capital. The revival of craft workshops, work with historical context and the memory of a place, the collecting of tangible heritage and archiving of intangible heritage, and the organisation of artist residencies — all these and other issues arise for the teams behind such projects.
