COSMOSCOW TALKS: SEPTEMBER 6

Cosmoscow Talks WHO KNOWS BEST? September 6–8

Most of us want to learn something new about art. Maybe we just like the artist, and we want to get to know them better: to see more of their works or learn their biography. Maybe we are writing an article or preparing an exhibition for which more detailed materials are required. Maybe we consider it important to follow current trends in art.

We all seek information and knowledge. How and who should we address to satisfy this need? Who or what do we perceive as sources of expert knowledge today? Is it a book, a magazine or a Telegram channel? (Telegram is a Russian social media platform) Whose opinions do we trust and listen to? Is it a ‘traditional’ expert: a museum professional, a university professor, a curator, or the polyphony of social networks? Today on the Internet it is easy to find any number of resources to learn a lot about art and to be aware of what is happening in the current moment. This competition for our attention and the difficulty of choosing between sources engenders the principal question of our Talks programme: Who knows best?
