INSTITUTION OF THE YEAR – CCA CHICORY (ZHELEZNOGORSK)

The Zheleznogorsk Сenter for Contemporary Art is a nonprofit organization and an independent art-venue for exhibition and educational activities in Zheleznogorsk (the Kursk region).

The Center was created by the art-group "Chicory", whose main current task is to develop the infrastructure of the hometown and the region in general with art and culture.

Being an art institution, the Zheleznogorsk Center for Contemporary Art distributes its activities along three axes: space (performative, exhibition and urban practices), participation (from creating a social environment to meeting practices and participatory aesthetics), and semiotics (creating symbolic systems using technical and social engineering methods).
