Confuse-A-Cat or Social Consequences of Love for Animals

Discussion. Participants: Vitaly Barabanov, Alex Buldakov, Alina Glazun, Oleg Kulik. Moderator: Alexander Zhuravlev.

Discussion with participation of five well-known Russian artists, whose work refer to animals or directly interact with them. Today social structures that are built around the interaction of humans and animals go beyond the owner-ownership model, largely due to the development of ecological consciousness. What are the intermediate results of the ‘quiet’ green revolution? What forms can love for animals take, and how do modern relationship between humans and animals lead to the emergence of new social systems: artistic practices associated with relational aesthetics, animal welfare groups in social networks, a new type of animal trainers with methods based on the achievements of zoopsychology and neurophysiology? Affirming the importance of the ecological attitude to living beings, the artists share their experience of how the love for animals alters the relationship between people in modern society.
