Cosmoscow 2018 will present the media art collection by the Pushkin state museum of fine arts

The collection of new media art is formed by the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts with the support of MAIL.RU GROUP.

The collection includes works of both video art classics and artists of a new generation offering various formats of interaction with reality.

The list of authors whose works have entered the collection includes classic of media art Jonas Mekas with his “Travel Songs” piece closely related to the tradition of cinema avant-garde; American video art pioneer Gary Hill, the author of such iconic works as “Happenstance (part one of many parts)”, “Incidence of Catastrophe”, and “Site Recite (a prologue)”, as well as “The Psychedelic Gedankenexperiment” that carries on his research of image and linguo-acoustics; digital alchemist and one of the founders of Italian video art Fabrizio Plessi who has created a special Pushkin Museum edition of his «Vertical Seas»; Russian art-group Provmyza with their trilogy “Despair”, “Eternity” and “Inspiration”; one of the driving forces behind Norwegian video art Marianne Heske with her picturesque digital experiments; prominent representative of a new generation of Russian video art and Cosmoscow 2018 Artist of the Year Taus Makhacheva.
