Garage Archive Collection is the world’s largest archive of documents covering the history of postwar Russian contemporary art. Its holdings are digitized and uploaded to the online platform RAAN (Russian Art Archive Network), which was launched by Garage in 2017.
In 2018, the Museum acquired part of the collection previously owned by artist Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe (1969–2013), which comprises over 1,000 items, including manuscripts, correspondence, personal belongings, and preparatory materials for his projects. The display by Garage at Cosmoscow art fair is a loose reconstruction of Mamyshev-Monroe’s apartment on Zubovsky Boulevard in Moscow, where he created his Barbie photo series for the Barbizona exhibition at Moscow’s RuArts Gallery (2005). Original archival materials related to this project (such as parts of costumes) are accompanied by replicas that visitors can touch and interact with. The booth also features video documentation of art events in Moscow and St. Petersburg which Mamyshev-Monroe took part in.
